Question 4

How did you use media technologies
in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
Research
I recorded two interviews which
acquired more in depth
information about the song we
chose; looking at what the
interviewee prefers and would
like to see. This helped target
our audience. I recorded the
interviews on an Apple iPhone
and then later published it to
YouTube.

The Internet Explorer was a major part of my
coursework. This made it possible to connect to
my blog, perform research, view videos, and do
the vast majority of my media coursework in
one place.

I used SurveyMonkey to perform primary audience
research. This site was easy to use, and I was able to
create a survey which I could publish and share to my
target audience for free, using Facebook, emails, and
texting the address. I gained valuable information such
as editing preference, whether they would like to see live
performance, and settings the target audience would like
to see.
We also used YouTube to look at existing music I used social media to perform research
videos, and other A2 music videos. This was
with our planned target audience to see
helpful as I could analyse the forms and
what they like about our chosen

Planning
Construction

We used a canon DSLR camera to both
film and take photographs for our media
products. The camera quality was
spectacular making it easier to achieve a
more professional look in all of our
products. We had a few issues with the
camera including battery life and
compatibility with the memory
card, which we soon fixed, however it
did waste some time.

To turn the footage that we had recorded into a
music video, we used Adobe Premiere. This
editing software was easy to use and had lots of
different editing techniques and add-ons which
were useful. We did not need to use many
settings as the footage had been filmed
well, although we did turn down the resolution
on one specific shot which came back too bright.
Premiere does not have linear structure, which
was useful as we could edit any section and then We used Photoshop to edit our photos and

editing process.
Evaluation
I again used social networking to
connect to the maximum amount
of people in the minimum amount
of time. I asked around twenty
people of our average target
audience age and give us feedback
on what they enjoyed about the
music video and what they believe
that we could have done better.
This was easy and time effective.
I used slideshare to import
PowerPoints onto my blog.
This would not have been
achievable without slideshare.
Including PowerPoints made
my blog more interesting and
interactive to the audience
consuming it.

As in all of my coursework, I used Blogger. I wrote my
evaluation and then published it to blogger for people to
read and give me feedback on how to make
improvements. Overall, I found Blogger highly useful as it
saved time and money of printing all of my work and
handing it to my tutor, whereas I can give a URL address
and receive marking and feedback online.

I used a scanner to scan our written audience
feedback which we retrieved when screening our
music video. If I didn’t have access to a scanner, I
would have had to take photos of the feedback. This
would take longer and the quality would not have
been as clear.
I uploaded our music video on to YouTube in order to
publish it to the world. By doing this I was able to send
a URL address to people of our target audience in order
for them to view it and send feedback. Without
YouTube, I would have had to manually show people on
a laptop or mobile phone, which would not have been
as effective and would have taken much longer. I was
able to embed the video onto my blog so people could
also access it through my coursework.
