The parable tells the story of Bamboo, a beautiful plant beloved by the Master of the garden. When the Master tells Bamboo that he wants to use him, Bamboo is willing to serve his Master. However, the Master explains that he must cut Bamboo down and remove his leaves and branches in order to use him. Bamboo accepts his fate, trusting in his Master's plan. The Master cuts Bamboo down and channels his body to provide water to his dry fields. Through his brokenness, Bamboo is able to fulfill his purpose of bringing life to the fields.
