1) Jesus begins preaching after John the Baptist is arrested, proclaiming that the kingdom of God is at hand. 2) Jesus calls Simon and Andrew and James and John to follow him and become "fishers of men". They immediately leave their work to follow him. 3) Jesus teaches with authority in the synagogue in Capernaum and heals a man with an unclean spirit, astonishing those present with his power over demons.
