Polynomial functions are expressions of infinite length made up of variables and constants using only addition, subtraction, multiplication, and non-negative integer exponents. Every polynomial has a degree, which is the highest power of the variable, and a leading coefficient, which is the coefficient of the first term in descending order. There are two forms of polynomials: standard form where terms are multiplied together without parentheses, and factored form where nothing is multiplied and terms are in parentheses.
