Relationships

“As a transportation agency, the dialogue has
                   increased around pedestrian safety and
motorists, and there's an increase in trust. I
see a win being the relationships with
                   community members. People are asking
questions not necessarily about SR2S but
also about safety. SR2S builds familiarity
with the work we do and people involved in
SR2S feel comfortable coming out and
                   discussing other projects.”

      • Describe SR2S relevance in simple terms
      • Know the history of the community
      • Identify abundance as well as scarcity
      • Recognize effort
      • Address cash flow challenges – find a community
        organization to serve as fiduciary
      • Provide frequent reminders, communication, and
        training – implementation is challenging
      • Start early to plan for sustainability
