Editor's Notes

  • #6: “With Ajax, web applications can send data to, and retrieve data from, a serverasynchronously (in the background) without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing page” (Wikipedia, 2013).“JavaScript is a prototype-based scripting languagewith dynamic typing and has first-class functions. Its syntax was influenced by C. JavaScript copies many names and naming conventions from Java, but the two languages are otherwise unrelated and have very different semantics. The key design principles within JavaScript are taken from the Self and Scheme programming languages. It is a multi-paradigm language, supporting object-oriented, imperative, and functional programming styles” (Wikipedia, 2013).“The design goals of XML emphasize simplicity, generality, and usability over the Internet It is a textual data format with strong support via Unicode for the languages of the world. Although the design of XML focuses on documents, it is widely used for the representation of arbitrary data structures, for example in web services” (Wikipedia, 2013).

  • #8: YouTube (2007).Lasthttp://www.youtube.com/user/leelefever
  • #9: Many bloggers subscribe to other bloggers and businesses. When they click on content of interest RSS feed, a link will appear for the blogger to paste into their feed. This makes going online to get the most current and up to date information quick and easy.
  • #10: When businesses or other bloggers post new content it can be found here on the left side of this blog whereas those who subscribe to this blog will find the new content in their RSS feed located on the left hand side of the screen in this blog.
  • #11: When bloggers want to subscribe to internet content such as news, audio, video or another bloggers, locating the RSS symbol is the first step. “RSS feeds enable publishers to syndicate data automatically. Once users subscribe to a website RSS removes the need for them to manually check it. Instead, their browser constantly monitors the site and informs the user of any updates. The browser can also be commanded to automatically download the new data for the user” (Wikipedia, 2013).
  • #12: Leelefever. (0). Retrieved from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0klgLsSxGsU
  • #13: “While a wiki is a type of content management system, it differs from a blog or most other such systems in that the content is created without any defined owner or leader, and wiki’s have little implicit structure, allowing structure to emerge according to the needs of the users” (Wikipedia, 2013).
  • #14: Sourceforge is one of the leading open source websites available to find free software. As previously seen throughout this presentation, a number of video’s have been added to the slides. YouTube downloader makes it easy to convert the YouTube URL into an easy to save and share MP4 file.
  • #16: Each of theses social media sites serve different people in different ways.
  • #20: Many people in the world today subscribe to the content multiple social media outlets. Some use it for only family, friends, and or business. When comparing each of the social media sites, Facebook out ranks each simply because of its ability to meet the needs of its users and has no direct special interest i.e. photo sharing, DIY, etc… Facebook is an all-in-one outlet.
