How to Create Your Lecture Notes
from a PDF File to a Word Document
Veronica
1. Open the PDF file
2. Change the Page Display so you can see two slides
at once.
3. Select (or highlight) all the text either by:
–
–

Pressing Ctrl + A; or
Clicking Edit -> Select All

4. Copy the selected text by:
–
–

Pressing Ctrl + C; or
Right clicking the highlighted text and then selecting
‘Copy’
5. Paste the text in a Word Document by:
–
–

Pressing Ctrl + V; or
Right clicking and then selecting ‘Paste’
6. Select all the text in the Word Document and in the
Styles toolbar click ‘Normal’.

–

Doing this should make all the text in the document the
same size and font.
7. Organise the text in the Word Document to what
suits you.
– So you could change the type and size of the font
–

Use a header to place the title of the lecture on every
page
Create columns if you want to use less pages
Bold certain words like:

–
–
•
•

–
–

The title of each slide; or
The definitions

You could add the images that were in the PDF
document; or
Add colour to the text
•

Now what I have noticed when you copy text from
a PDF, is that the dot points show up in the Word
Document. However, they are not indented.
–

So, below I will show you an easy way to remove all
these dot points.

1. Highlight and copy the first dot point from the
Word Document
2. Then, use your keyboard to press: Ctrl + F
3. Click on the tab that says ‘Replace’ and then paste
the dot point in the first box.

4. Click ‘Replace all’ to remove all the dot points in
the Word Document.
