Drive me places. It’s as simple as that. I ask only that I go to youth group once a week
and get dropped off at the mall while you run errands. This isn’t unreasonable. I’m too
young to get my license, but trust me, if I could, I would take it in no time.
Walk the dog. Right now, this is my job in the morning and it takes a lot for me to do
that. I have to leave the house at 6am to get to the bus stop on time, and you expect me
to wake up at 5am to be able to get ready and walk the dog. I’ve stayed at the house
before, I know that all that happens around 7am, 30 minutes before you have to leave,
all you do is sit around and watch TV. Instead of doing that, how about grant me an
extra 20 minutes of sleep and walk the dog.
I want to watch my recorded programs, so don’t delete them. Imagine coming home
from a long, tiring day at school, running around all day with heartless people and
seeing that your favorite show that just came on last night (that by the way, you
graciously didn’t watch so that your mom could watch her boring cooking shows) has
been deleted from the DVR. Or even worse, someone stopped it two minutes into the
recording so that they could watch on demand, or live shows. It isn’t fair. There are
many options instead of deleting my programs; Netflix, playing on the Wii, watching
youtube on the apple TV, playing on the Xbox. All great, non-harmful, options.
Show me love with cooking. I’ve requested this for a while now, but now I’m not just
requesting, I’m demanding. I want a home cooked dinner every night. Something
healthy, not from a box. Something vegetarian friendly, and even better, vegan.
Something that won’t disgust me with excessive grease or excessive cheese. Something
that takes an hour of your time to make. That will truly show me how much you care.
I demand that I’m allowed to listen to my music as loud as I want to. This will help me
concentrate on my work and shouldn’t distract you too much seeing as your office is
across the house, and I never even like my music to loud. This is a simple request that is
easy to follow; no need for extra work from you.
Is it really that hard to buy me all the books I want? I only ask for a new book every
month or two. Books feed my brain and keep me in bed at night. I would like books to
be bought for me when I ask, because that will make my happy. I also refuse to read
digital books, or, my least favorite, listening to the audio. Something seems unreal and
just not what I would like to have.
I say less is more when we’re debating over chores. My chore list is extensive and take
forever to do. Clean your room. Make your lunch. Make your brother’s lunch. Make
dinner. Pack your brother’s bag for school. Pack to go to your dad’s house. Clean the
bathroom. Feed your brother. Do laundry. Walk the dog. Take care of your brother.
Clean the pool. Take out the trash. Clean the kitchen. Clean the living room. Clean the
floors. Clear the cat’s litter. Feed the pets. My chores need to be divided in half. I won’t
completely stop working, buy what I desire is less work.
Let’s do fun things together, as a family. This is important in order to have a functional
family. Life can’t just all be work and no fun; you must ration out the small time you
have on this earth. Take the family to dinner, or to the beach, or even just have a family
movie night in our living room. It means a lot more than you think it does, and really just
makes me happy.
How about the bedtime of mine? Seriously, 21:00 is much too early for a teenager to
have to go to bed. I understand that I need to get sleep on a school night, but isn’t that a
bit extensive? You must understand that I don’t actually go to bed when I’m instructed
to. I tend to sit in my bed reading, or doing work that I’ve procrastinated on. 22:00
should be when I will go to bed without getting in trouble. I’ll still get enough sleep and
will hopefully have the time to do my work before I usually do.
