  • #9: Jesus indicated that those who are seeking the kingdom of God would go through a spiritual transformation as phenomenal as one who would be physically born again.
  • #10: This born again experience is symbolized by baptism.

  • #12: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #13: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #14: Baptism was not John’s idea or part of a cult ritual. God directed him to baptize those who accepted the gospel of the kingdom of heaven.
  • #15: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #16: Another example of baptism is found in Acts chapter 8. (Read the story from Acts 8:26-36)
  • #17: The eunuch confessed, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
  • #18: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #19: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #20: Notice what the Bible teaches. Philip and the eunuch went “down into the water.”
  • #21: After Jesus was baptized Jesus “came up from the water.”
  • #22: The Greek word for baptize (baptizo) means to immerse, submerge, or to fully wet. It comes from the word “bapto” which is translated in the Bible as “dip.” Bible examples of baptism indicate the full body was placed under water.
  • #23: John baptized in the wilderness because “there was much water there.” (John 3:23) Since baptism is also a symbol of the burial of sin (Romans 6:2-4, covered later in the study), it is consistent that baptism involves immersion.
  • #24: This is a picture of the ruins of a first century church in Philippi.
  • #25: It had a tank similar to a baptistery
  • #26: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #27: Read question #a then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide. (Advance slide and repeat with question #b)
  • #28: Baptism is the culmination of the conversion experience. After repenting of our sins, they are “washed away” in the waters of baptism. There is no magic in the water used for baptism. The washing away of sin is a symbol of what Jesus does for us. It stands as a monument of the commitment of our life to Him. Those who are baptized are also given the gift of the Holy Spirit. (you may need to click twice to advance)
  • #29: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #30: Jesus did not need to be baptized to wash away His sins, because He “committed no sin.” But He was our example, showing us that baptism is a part of being accepted into God’s kingdom. (1 Peter 2:21,22)
  • #31: Read question #a then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide. (Advance slide and repeat with question #b)
  • #32: Read slide
  • #33: Part of preparing for baptism is; 1) believing that Jesus can and will cleanse us from sin, and (fly in) 2) learning what being a Christian involves.
  • #34: If, after baptism, we are to “walk in newness of life,” we must learn what that life will be like. If we “bury” our sins, we must know what sin is.
  • #35: Read question #a then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide. (Advance slide and repeat with question #b)
  • #36: God takes into account the opportunity one has to be baptized. Jesus assured the thief on the cross of his place in paradise, and the thief was never baptized. His was a “death bed” conversion. He never had an opportunity to be baptized. No doubt he would have been baptized had he been given the chance, and would have been a faithful follower of Jesus.
  • #37: Read question #a then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide. (Advance slide and repeat with question #b)
  • #38: Baptism is a symbol of burying our previous life of sin, and beginning a new life with Jesus.
  • #39: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #40: It is through baptism that we become connected to Jesus. It is part of the “born again” experience, the “adoption process” in joining Christ’s family. The way we live after baptism will be like Jesus lives.
  • #41: Read slide
  • #42: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #43: Some believers claim to be filled with the Holy Spirit and therefore believe they do not need to be baptized by immersion. But the Bible is clear that being filled with the Holy Spirit does not negate the need for baptism.
  • #44: “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.” (Acts 10:47,48)
  • #45: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #46: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #47: Baptism is our testimony to the world that we have accepted Jesus as the Savior and Lord of our life. It is Jesus’ blood covering our sins, and our testimony that we have accepted Him that gives us victory over Satan.
  • #48: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #49: When new believers were baptized, they became a part of the church that had been formed by the apostles. God established the church for the purpose of building up its members and for the preaching of the gospel.
  • #50: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #51: Read question #a then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide. (Advance slide and repeat with question #b)
  • #52: Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #53: Read question on screen then fly in and read #’s A, B, and C.
  • #54: Continue reading with #D. Fly in and read E and F
  • #55: In Acts chapter 16 there is an inspiring story of conversion involving a jailor and his family in Philippi. Paul and Silas preached the gospel with great power and cast out demons in the name of God.
  • #56: But not all the people appreciated what they were doing. It affected their livelihood.
  • #57: So they arranged to have Paul and Silas arrested and beaten.
  • #58: Then they were cast in a dungeon and secured with chains.
  • #59: At midnight they could be heard singing songs of praise to God.
  • #60: It was then that there was a great earthquake, and the prison doors were opened, and their chains were broken.
  • #61: The jailor rushed in, and thinking the prisoners had escaped and he would be executed because of it, he was about to take his own life.

  • #67: There will never be a better time to accept Jesus than right now. He only asks us to take one step at a time.
  • #68: He says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30) Note to the presenter: Use a baptism commitment card and/or an altar call.
