So, how do we do this?
Mr Edgecombe suggests this…When targeting businessmen, advertisers make consistent use dark colours, often black.  Jaguar cars presented their 2008 model against a backdrop of straight black, while Tag Heuer  presented a silver watch  placed on a black velvet cloth. Sony’s VAIO laptop was photographed placed on a dark silver table, (again, a sombre colour and reasonably dark). However,  the computer itself was a dark charcoal.  Advertisers target the stereotype that businessmen are serious, conservative people with a sense of style.  Black has serious, sombre connotations. By applying this colour to their advertisements, advertisers give the add a sense of gravity to their products. This appeals to businessmen, for they are people who have little time to joke about – in the business world, joking results in the loss of millions of dollars, and a failed company.  The only way to get ahead is to be serious. Therefore, by adding the colour black to their advertisements, advertisers connect their product to the serious lives of businessmen.
