Module 1 My First Day at Senior High
 
 
Introduction 1. German/Germany e.g. The___ in ___speak_____. 2. favourite/favorite  心爱的,最喜爱的。一班不用最高级。 e.g.  我喜欢的食物是中国菜。 My  ~ food is Chinese dish. 可以做名词使用,心爱的人或者食物,最喜爱的东西。 e.g.  这本小说是我的最爱。 This novel is one of my favorites. 3. what 与 which 的区别 what 表示从不定的数目或者不定的数量的事物中作出选择。 which  表示从已知的,确定的若干事物中作出选择。 e.g. _____ are you going to wear? _____ color do you like better, green or red?
4. enjoy doing sth.  喜欢做某事 enjoy oneself  玩得愉快 n. enjoyment  adj. enjoyable 与 enjoy 用法类似的动词有: suggest( 建议 ), mind, practice, finish, complete, miss, excuse, advise 等等。 e.g. ①  他正吃得津津有味。 He is enjoying himself. ② 我们正在考虑去北京度假。 We are considering going to Beijing for holiday. ③  我不介意打开窗户。 I don’t mind opening the window.
Warning-up: What are the differences between Junior High School and Senior High school? * the students will learn more subjects * the Ss will study harder * the Ss will be more independent in Senior High school. * the Ss will meet new friends and teachers. * anything reasonable
Questions What does the writer talk about in the passage? Find something about this school which is different from LiKang’s Junior High school. Find two things that the English teacher thinks are important to do in class. Find two things that the English teacher wants to improve.
Reading  1.  far from : 离……远,远远不是  e.g. ①  学校离这里不远,骑车 10 分钟就到了。 The school is not  far from  here. It’s only ten minutes’ bicycle ride.  ②  他绝不是傻瓜。 He is  far from  a fool. 补充: as far as : 远至;到……程度 ①  我们一直走到桥上。 We went to  as far as  the bridge. ②  据我所知, 他是个坏人。 As far as  I know, he is a bad man. 2. be lost in thought  陷入沉思 at the thought of  一想起……就…… e.g. ①  一想起暑假,我就很高兴。 I’m very happy  at the thought of  summer holiday. ②  三四而后行。 Second thoughts are best.
3. be amazed at/by  对……感到惊奇 be amazed to do sth.  因做……而感到惊奇 e.g. ① 我们对这个消息感到惊讶。 We were  amazed at/by  the news. ② 我们因发现这个消息而感到惊讶。 We were  amazed to  find the news. 注意: amazed/amazing e.g. ①From the ___look of the boys, I found they were____. ②  老师脸上感到吃惊的表情表明他对汤姆的工作很满意 (satisfy) 。 The amazed look on teacher’s face showed that he was satisfied with Tom’s work. 4. 过去分词作定语,与所修饰的词之间是被动关系,相当于定语从句。 e.g.  我们参观了三周前建成的图书馆。 We visited the new library  built   three weeks ago. (that was built)
5. nothing like ①  什么也不如 e.g.  什么也不如游泳锻炼身体。 There is  nothing like  swimming for exercise. 当你累了的时候,什么也比不上洗个热水澡。 There is ~ a lot bath when you are tired. ②  完全不适,不会 e.g.  这完全不是我想要的 There is ~ what I wanted. 补充: something like  大约,有点像 something of  有点像(不确定的程度) e.g. My sister, little Mary, is _____ a fool. She did very well in all his  subjects. A. anything but  B. sth. of  C. nothing but  D. sth. like
6. have (great/a lot of) fun  玩得愉快 =enjoy oneself =have a wonderful time in fun =for fun  开玩笑地 make fun of  取笑,嘲笑 e.g. ①  孩子们正在操场上玩得很开心。 The children are  having great fun  on the playground. ②  我说如此严肃的事情不是开玩笑。 I’m not saying such a serious thing  for fun . ③  取笑盲人是不礼貌的。 It’s bad manner to  make fun of  the blind. 7.  倍数的表达方法: A+ be + 倍数 + as adj. as+ B A +be + 倍数  + 比较级 + than B A+ be + 倍数  +the size/ length/ depth / height of B
