Why? - Rurality: Post Industrial

• Location

• Socio-cultural issues

• Social Exclusion
Guiding Principles
• Inclusivity
To promote equality of opportunity between
individuals that challenges inequality and exclusion
• Development
To work in ways which bring people together
The belief in encouraging residents to involve their
children and to provide the children with the
opportunity to play rugby/sport has positive impacts
  on health, community cohesion, educational
  attainment, and economic vitality
y.
Aim & Objectives
• Aim: To involve the whole community, not just the
youngsters, in actively participating in the development and
progression of the Mini and Junior Section
• Objectives: Empower mums and dads, care givers, and the
extended family to take on particular roles in the section
• To create and increase participation
• To address social exclusion
• To create healthy lifestyles through healthy shopping and
cooking and educate the young people (and as an aside,
adults) in the value of keeping fit
• To build character and self respect through team play
Empowerment
• Empowerment is an enigma
• Organizational empowerment includes shared
leadership, opportunities to develop skills, self
  expansion, and effective community influence
• Empowerment (in our case) represents an
  interaction between individuals and
  environments that is culturally and
  contextually defined.
Outcomes
• Funding: Coaching Course, Referee Courses,
First Aid Courses and Health and Hygiene
  Courses
• Today the section is the sole responsibility of
the parents Chair, Treasurer, Secretary etc.
• Pride and a new found confidence
• All are volunteers
