Social entrepreneurship in Greece is evolving despite its long-standing tradition, with an increasing number of initiatives emerging. The legal framework supports various forms of social economy, but there remains a lack of targeted financial tools for social enterprises. Efforts are being made to enhance collaboration and build capacity through design processes aimed at addressing social issues.

- 4. There is a common belief that social entrepreneurship is a very new field in Greece.
- 5. Fact is that the social sector has a long tradition in Greece, which seems to unleash with new initiatives during the last years.
- 8. LEGAL FRAMEWORK • Law on Social Economy 4019/2011 establishes the form of Social Cooperative Enterprise • Summer 2013: Informal Network of Social Cooperative Enterprises (around 240 Soc. Coops.) • Other legal forms of Social Economy in Greece: Grassroots, Informal Structures, Cooperatives, Non-Profits, Associations etc.
- 9. FINANCE Unfortunately there are not enough targeted financial/ investment tools for social enterprises yet. Except grant-making institutions and mostly restricted to the non-for-profit legal entities. • EU/ Governmental Funds • Foundations • No targeted tools by financial institutions • No micro-funding
