This document discusses cultural characteristics reflected in language through five aspects: how languages define objects, the meaning of words, classification and abstraction of concepts, how objects in the real world are conceptualized, and how languages describe real-world objects and phenomena. It provides examples of how cultural traits are expressed in English and Vietnamese naming conventions, conceptualization, and word meanings. Specifically, it compares how the two languages define sports, vegetables, name people and places, and shift word meanings.
