The Orange County Sanitation District pioneered a new biosolids management system in 1997 that led to them becoming the first agency certified by the National Biosolids Partnership in 2003. They work to collect, treat wastewater, and recycle approximately 250,000 tons of biosolids per year for the 2.6 million residents they serve. They strive to use sustainable biosolids recycling options while protecting public health and the environment.
