Parent Information Afternoon
Our Vision…
We Grow Our Futures

  By collaborating
    By engaging
By being independent
Pod Wide Groupings
• We have Pod wide groupings for
  reading and mathematics this year…
Why?
• more guided lessons with each group – because there are
  fewer groups in each class
• more targeted teaching because the groups have similar
  needs and learning goals
• children from across the pod at the same level are grouped
together, so there is no one by themselves in a class on a level
• teachers are used for their particular strengths
• Comprehension strategies being taught and LBTC tasks are
  consistent across all classes
• prepares students to be able to cope with any teacher and
  develops their self management skills
Routines
Morning routines:
• Shoes on the shoe rack
• Water (only) bottles on the water bottle table
• (children can have a drink whenever they need to throughout the day)

• If you need to pick your child up early, please go
to Aynslee and let her know the situation, she will
give you a blue sign out form, which you then show
  to the classroom teacher
• You keep this blue form with you, incase you are
stopped by Police or a truancy officer
• If your child is sick, also please ring and let
  Aynslee know

Editor's Notes

  • #3: We are presenting as a team because we are working as a team and we are all collaboratively planning and will be working with children across the pod – because we can lower group numbers and have more guided sessions with each child Why we set up the way we do? – why are things not up on the walls We are not a worksheet school – a lot of practise using games, digital devices, Not set up by teachers – grown by children Unpack everything with the kids – including assessments Use the blurb from the newsletter on the vision – we know that we are equipping children with skills and experiences to ensure they are successful in the future. We know we are educating chilren for jobs and careers that don’t even exist yet . Education is no longer about simply gaining knowledge, it is about being able to solve problems with others and being able to find or access information successfully. To be able to do this children need to be engaged in what they are learning, be able to learn independently and also be able to learn collaboratively with others.
