Summer Reading Resolution Pledge!
Research shows that kids who do not read over the summer can suffer from "summer slide" or
"brain drain." This means that it can take longer to catch up and get back in the swing of things
when the new school year starts. Don't let this happen! READ, READ, READ! If you need a little
extra push or incentive to get you reading, there are lots of summer reading programs out there
for little kids, big kids, and grown-ups! PLEDGE to participate in summer reading! You can do the
summer reading program at the Lexington County Public Library; participate in the Scholastic
Summer Reading Challenge; or come up with your own summer reading challenge (you can
even join Mrs. Byrd Fort and challenge yourself to read a #bookaday this summer)! Doesn’t
matter how you do it, just as long as you READ! Many of you PLEDGED to read with your family
for 101 days/nights for Roary’s Reading Resolution Challenge, continue that challenge by
pledging to read over the summer! Don’t know what to read? Check out this list of authors and
resources! We will be sharing more suggestions on the Learning Commons Facebook, Twitter,
and Instagram pages throughout the summer – be sure to LIKE and FOLLOW the Learning
Commons so that you don’t miss out!
Scan the QR code above to visit our webpage!
