We are excited to introduce you to our new project named
2 our KIDZ 4 our KIDZ!
2 Our Kidz 4 our Kidz is a program to help children of Phalaborwa and the surrounding
areas who are in need of emotional care and support. This program is the Brainchild of Phalaborwa-North
primary School “ The Red School” and Anneline Coetzer, well known in Phalaborwa for her work with emotionally broken children
for the past 14 years.
Anneline studied at the University of Pretoria and qualified with honors in social work with psychology. She is in private practice
and specializes in play therapy with children who are experiencing many traumas including molestation, divorce, abuse, school
related problems, personal and social problems. She also developed a program that teaches parents how to work with and
understand their own children.
It is 24 Project’s motto not to refuse therapy for a child just because they can’t afford
therapy, or do not have a medical aid. And therefore we strive to partner with other companies and
organizations to effectively use financial resources to plan and provide services that meet the needs of the children within our
community.
With our fully equipped and active Therapy Rooms currently at Phalaborwa North Primary School and Fauna Park Primary we have
helped over 200 children with 4 permanent counsellors present and working closely with teachers, school board and parents.
24 project 2015
“If a child is believed and given the appropriate support
by their parents when the abuse is discovered, they
have a positive chance of recovery”
“Abused and neglected
children are 11 times
more likely to engage in
criminal behaviour
as an adult”
Through Anneline’s work, she progressively became more aware of the
overwhelming need of emotional care for the children of Phalaborwa. The
manpower currently available, even though of high standard, can’t keep up
with the high demand. In her private practice, she currently has 40 children on
a waiting list whose needs cannot be attended to. This number increases on a
weekly basis.
Many of these children’s parents / guardians do not have the financial means
to obtain professional help for their children which leads to these children
growing up and becoming adults who never fully reaches their potential in life.
It is 24 Project’s motto not to refuse therapy for a child just because they can’t
afford therapy, or do not have a medical aid. It is important for the town of
Phalaborwa and surrounding areas to take a responsible role in helping our
broken children heal and become strong and healthy adults who can contribute
to their society in a positive manner.
We have been working for a while on developing a program to address these needs, called 2 Our Kidz 4 Our Kidz / 24
Project. We are fortunate and thankful to have the support of Phalaborwa-North Primary School (The Red School) who
made it possible to begin this program and is taking part in developing this program to its full potential.
We plan to address the needs of the children of Phalaborwa in the following manner:
•To set up a fully equipped professional therapy playroom with therapeutic toys and tools
•To educate and train counselors and teachers that have experience in working with children to help and assist children with needs.
• These counselors will operate under the supervision of Anneline Coetzer and will help as many as possible hurt or broken children.
• They will also educate parents in effective parenting skills. 2 Our Kidz 4 Our Kidz will make use of departmental or statutory institutions in cases
where we deem it necessary and will not interfere with decisions made by the courts. Our main goal will always
be to help the child emotionally.
Some of the needs that 2 Our Kidz 4 Our Kidz have been and will be addressing are:
physical abuse
sexual abuse
emotional abuse
bullying
serious self-esteem problems
divorce
substance abuse
peer problems school related problems
personal and social problems
leadership development
