Coliphages are bacteriophages that infect E. coli and are used as indicators of fecal pollution in water samples. The objective of this investigation was to examine water samples using the coliphage method to test for animal fecal pollution from different areas and to compare treated versus untreated water. This method is more efficient than other indicators as it is fast, does not require confirmation tests, and is cost-effective. E. coli are used to detect the presence of coliphages. Samples were incubated for 24 hours and showed no growth, indicating no fecal contamination or coliphages were present, resulting in negative tests.
