Answer the following questions and include the TEKS addressed in the model lesson and upload
your file with the answers:
TEKS Covered.
. Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to analyze
attributes of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids to develop
generalizations about their properties. The student is expected to:
. (A) identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares
as special rectangles;
. (B) identify three-dimensional solids, including cylinders, cones, spheres, and cubes, in
the real world;
. (C) identify two-dimensional components of three-dimensional objects;
. (D) identify attributes of two-dimensional shapes using informal and formal geometric
language interchangeably;
. (E) classify and sort a variety of regular and irregular two- and three-dimensional figures
regardless of orientation or size; and
. (F) create two-dimensional shapes using a variety of materials and drawings.
. (7) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to directly
compare measurable attributes. The student is expected to:
. (A) give an example of a measurable attribute of a given object, including length, capacity,
and weight; and
. (B) compare two objects with a common measurable attribute to see which object has
more of/less of the attribute and describe the difference.
1) What was the Engage part of the model lesson?
The engage part of the lesson was having the students work with the manipulatives to
model the problems. I like the part where they cut out two triangles and name them
and then they cut it to find the 180 angles.
2) What was the Explore part of the model lesson?
The explore part was the students modeling and discovering how to get the 180
degrees. First they made and name the triangle then they cut it and they had to find
how to place them and make a straight line.
3) What was the Explain part of the model lesson?
The explaining part where the prompts questions that the students had to fill out. This
help the student organize their taughts.
4) What was the elaborate part of the model lesson?
The teachers model the problem and then ask students to explain to him how they
came up with the conclusion, which was done through the prompts.
5) What was the Evaluate part of the model lesson?
The evalúate part of the model was having the students explaintheprocess in
theirownwords.
