5) How did you attract your audience?Jess Pardoe
I used Twitter to post a link to my blog, this caused me to receive feedback from people following me. All of this feedback appeared positive when I read it back, this assured me that my cover, contents and double page spread fitted the genre and all toned together as one item. One person actually mentioned that it looked like an ‘indie/alternative’ music genre magazine just from the first glance because of the photo, layout and fonts used.
On my Facebook account, I uploaded an album of photos of my test shots and my final magazine shots. I allowed people to comment on them or ‘like’ the photo, this meant I could see which photos were most popular and use them among my work. I also received messages from people complimenting the location of my photographs being outside, because it picked up the brightness of the colours used. I preferred advertising my blog on Twitter however as I received a range of responses from different types of people, whereas Facebook friends are mainly from the same college as myself.
I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 to create my final magazine product, I have this programme on my laptop and there is a slightly upgraded version of Photoshop (Elements 5.0) in school so it was easily accessible. I also used this programme to edit the photos I had taken, my test shots and final photographs. I used my original Photoshop skill from having it on my home laptop, but I also found new ways to edit images through watching other people in school and exploring the options for myself. Editing the photographs made them a lot more appealing so that I could upload them to Facebook as finished products.
I use Blogger as my AS Media blog to do school work, we have two blogs, one for coursework and one for class work and revision; I had no idea how to use this website before I had to use it in school. People can follow you on their own Blogger accounts, this is an easy way to get feedback about your work as it appears in their individual dashboards so they can see when you upload a new blog post. I asked a question in one of my posts about what the other people on Blogger thought about my final draft magazine; I received 4 responses from different people which had been posted as comments on the original question post.
I used www.mixpod.com to create a playlist for my coursework blog; the playlist consists of the genre and style of music that the audience should expect to see mentioned in my blog and featured in my final magazine. The website is really easy to use, and is yet again somewhere I have only visited since being on the AS Media course. There is an option to have the playlist to start playing automatically when someone clicks on your blog page, however mine plays when the person viewing my blog clicks on the iPod touch icon on the right hand side.
