READING MINUTESStudents are required to read 180 minutes each week to receive full credit!Students need to remember to record their reading daily.3 ways to fulfill minutes:Read IndependentlyRead to someoneHave an adult read to the childThese should be filled out with a parent signature by Sunday night because…Monday is minute reporting day and this needs to be turned in first thing in the morning.New slips will be sent home on Mondays.
Reading Comprehension AssignmentA parent and student assignmentAssignment will be sent home with student on Mondays and is required to be turned in by FridayRead passage ALOUD TO PARENT!Answer questions independently, but with parent supervision to insure correct answers.Parent signature is required at the bottom of the assignment.
Additional HomeworkSpellingAt least one spelling assignment will be sent home during the week.This is to be completed on top of learning the spelling of the words throughout the week.Math,  Science, and Social Studies assignments will be given throughout the week as well
Monetary SystemOur behavior management plan is based on positive behavior.Students and teachers have developed the financial consequences for different offences. They are saving their money to use at a year-end auctionParents will be contacted about donations.
Late Work PolicyAll work should be turned in the day it is due.If an assignment is turned in late you child’s grade will not be affected, rather they will receive a financial consequence.If they fail to turn in their assignment their grade will be affected.  They will receive a zero for that assignment.

ABSENT POLICYWhen a student is sick, they are responsible for finding out what they missed on the day they were absent.They are to discuss the assignment with another student or their teacher.They are to take the assignment home and finish it at home.If you choose to take your child out of school for a vacation advanced work will not be given.  Your child will be responsible for making up the work on their own.For everyday they are absent, they have one day to make it up.EX. If a student missed 3 days of school, they have 3 days to turn in the completed assignment.
PLANNERSWe are asking that each child has a planner to record daily assignments.Each student also needs to receive a parent signature each night to confirm that the parent has seen the assignment and the child has completed the assignment.The next morning we have a “planner” person who will check each planner for the parent signature and mark down if they have received it or not!

EXTRA HELP!!The following resources are available to your child for extra help:Help room:  Help room is available to your child on most Tuesdays and Thursdays right after school until 4:15.  You child can bring any work they are struggling with or have failed to turn in.  We STRONGLY encourage students who are struggling to attend help room.Teachers:  We are available to help your child during their recess time or after school.  We ask that advance notice is given for both so that we can plan accordingly!Other Students:  Students can be each others best teachers.  If your child is struggling encourage him or her to ask a friend for help!
Sit and SipStudents are able to bring a fun drink to drink on a scheduled day of the week.Students are not allowed to call home if they forgot their drink at home.DO NOT SEND THE FOLLOWING WITH YOUR CHILD:Mountain DewEnergy DrinksCoffee DrinksAny containers larger than 12oz
