Process
• Firstly I tried to find a nice suitable image of a link from
Zelda: breath of the wild game as I will be talking about
that game in my double page spread (dps). I searched on
google images “breath of the wild render”. This lead me
to a nice image of link with his bow with no background
making it easier for me as I don’t have to crop it out. I
then tried to create the background by finding a blue
water colour painting on google. I copied and pasted the
image on the cover however it was squared so I had to
stretch it to size. This looked very odd so I blurred it a
lot. This made it look professional and neat. The
background worked very well as it didn’t ruin the link
image but made it look better. The light on the left side
of link suited the background like as if it was the source
of light. Then I had to think of a magazine name which
took me while so I used the same name I did on my
experiments which was “digital”. I used this name as it
suited the game theme and it isn’t a company already. I
used the harlow solid italic font as it looked nice and sci-
fi like. I edited the text further with the blending options
giving light blue overlay and also a dark blue border. This
suited the background and also looked neon like. I then
created a slogan above the title “gaming light years
beyond your imaginations” which had the same font and
colouring as the title. I chose liked this slogan because it
makes the magazine seem to have good content.
Process
• I then wanted to create the sub heading which
would the name of the background image game. I
searched on google “Zelda breath of the wild title
render”. This came with many options so I chose
the gold text with the sword going down the “Z”.
This didn’t turn out that good as the colour didn’t
contrast well and was hard to read. This lead me to
edit it on the blending options so I made the
overlay red and the border gold which is and iconic
colour for a Zelda game. This looked way better and
was easier to read. I then had the idea to make link
look 3d. I did this by cropping out the arrow blade
and moving the cropped layer over the sub heading
like as if link was shooting and arrow over the title.
After that I had to add text about the game
underneath. I put “ set your journey for a new
adventure in Nintendo’s biggest game yet”. This
would attract audiences as I have stated that the
game is Nintendo’s biggest game. I looked hard
trying to find a good default font however non of
them are good. This lead to me to download the
Zelda font from google which made it look tonnes
better. I made the colour the same colour of the
border of the Zelda title making it look professional.
Process
• i then had to add the plug heading which show
other content within my magazine. I started be
including the dark souls tutorial heading which I
planned before. So I looked for a suitable imaged
and copied and pasted it on my cover. To make it
look professional I added a blue border with the
blending options suiting the blue theme. I then
added the heading which is “TIPS AND TRICKS FOR
DARK SOULS BEGINNIERS” which would attract new
dark souls players. The next one was going to be
about the new Nintendo switch so I found an image
on google which I copied and pasted onto my cover.
I gave it a blue border with blending option making
it fit the them. I also copied and pasted the switch
logo above the switch console. Next to it I added a
header saying “Nintendo switch exclusive”. The
switch is a new console so this would attract many
people who are thinking of buying the switch.
Finally I added the bar code. A sale price images
with the 2.50 text on it. And then the issue number
that had the same font as the title.
Process
• for the double page spread I created the lines
indicating the middle split dividing the two pages
apart. Then I copied and pasted another image of
link but in a different pose. I fitted this image of link
to fit the whole page giving it a nice cool look. On
the right page I added an image of the gameplay on
top with the game name underneath with green
overlay which stands out. Underneath I gave and
explanation of what the game is and it background.
With a bold capital “T” making it look professional. I
found this information from Wikipedia. Underneath
that I added a red circle and copied and pasted an
IGN review of the game. I put the text over the red
circle with an IGN title above it. Next to that I added
another image of link on a horse making the design
look better.
Process
• For the last thing I had to create a dark souls
tutorial on the other half of the right page. I copied
and pasted an image of a boss which is in the game.
The title underneath is says “ dark souls: how to
defeat Ornstein and Smough” which informs the
reader what the section is about. I chose this boss
as it is one of the most difficult bosses on the game
and people have difficulties trying to defeat it.
Underneath that I created a description of all the
attacks that the boss does and how to dodge them.
I found all this information from Wikipedia.
