Research
• When designing a product its best to always start with the research as it gives you an idea
of what already exists, what you could improve but also helps with brain storming ideas if
you already have an idea of what people in the market are already buying.
• The research I have conducted for this project I believe was a big help with the way mine
looked and what I needed to include or what was conventional for a art exhibit, I looked
at several blogs and also real examples of previous exhibits and there posters. One of the
main strengths I took from this was the style that seems to be popular towards younger
people, looking at blogs and exhibits lots of the art was distressed or had a deeper
meaning to it so this is what I tried to take forward in my own work just with my own
point of view on things this made it far easier to choose fonts and colours. The research
also helped me with the conventional aspects of an exhibit such as the floor plan and
what must be included on posters and booklets.
• However my research was not all great as the questionnaire I put out came back with
results that didn't’t really help me out too much, as I was asking just people in my class I
didn't’t get a very broad set of answers with most people against going to gallery's and
places as such. Although the questionnaire I did helped me make a decision on adding
photography to my work as it was the top voted option which suggest people want to see
real images.
• If I was to improve my work or change anything with the research I would have liked to
ask lots more people to take part in the questionnaire and I also would have liked to have
done more research on photography, if these changes were made I believe I would have
been given more accurate results to work from and also would have more of an
understanding of the types of photos to take and what to take photos of.

Planning
• The planning I have done for this product has helped a lot with the final product and what I
have made for my exhibit, the planning has several strengths firstly the mind maps where we
started help massively with coming to an ide of what you will actually make and then is a
great way to make a starting point for the product, my second mind map included many ideas
for the product some I have used some I have changed but it helped with where to actually
start with the production.
• The second strength from my planning was actually making a product for our experiment was
a massive help as it gave us a chance to test out multiple styles and techniques and see what
we are good at and what we can take forward to the production, for example with my
experiment I tried out mixing drawing with real life imagery and it worked really well and
looked great but was very time consuming and not as easy to find an image you can actually
mix up with something without it not making sense or being weird.
• The side of my planning that I think didn’t go specifically well or was’nt a massive help was
the mood board I made at the start, its not because it was bad it just in the end didn't’t really
portray my work and I never really used it as example and never really like mood boards as it
helps for colour and fonts but typically doesn't’t give me ideas.
• If I had the chance to improve my planning I would go back and include more in my mind
map including more ideas that I may not have to use but just for reference but also I would
have liked to make my mood board more accurate to my work, if I were to do this with my
work I believe I would have had more ideas for my work and a better understanding of
exactly what to include as I felt a bit lost with this project as I picked something new.

Time Management
• After finishing my production believe that I have managed my time quite well
this time round as with the past products time has been a struggle either
finishing early or not having the time to do what I want exactly.
• I have finished my product just on time with a nice amount of time left to take
part in my evaluation and improve where ever I may need to, however the
time has been enough I believe I could have done more in production as this
time round I haven't done as much outside of class work as I normally would.
• But if I were to go back and make a change I would have planned ahead more
with the photography side, as I had several days where I went round places to
get images however two of the times I didn't’t take no where near as many as
I hoped and didn't’t visit very ideal locations for my style and work, if this was
different I believe my work would have matched a lot better and have more
meaning to the photos I took and I could have spent more time on the post
production if I didn't’t have to find extra images.
• But If I was given more time now I would make sure to spend that time
focusing only on the photography and used a lot more Photoshop techniques.

Technical Qualities
I have chose to compare my poster with one that Is existing as from first glance you can spot several key similarities,
firstly both of the posters share a similar layout with the text placed above and under the center image, also both
posters don’t use any real life imagery only art which has been drawn or painted.
However looking at the images they may have similar aesthetic qualities but technically there are some things which
the existing has done far better, on my product I have not left any borders for the text like the existing, therefore if I
were to print my work there's a chance letters may be cut out.
Also the existing product has laid there text down in an order where it is small then big then small font making it
interesting and arty and so they can fit far more on, where as most o my text is in a large font and is quite minimal.

For one of my pieces I chose to have a try at the grime art style typically found on
album covers for grime artists, I like it as it mixes up illustration with the photography.
These two products have many similarities with them both having a model as the focus
in the image and then using illustration over laid to make the effect of slime or melting,
the colors used for both images quite bright and pop out.
The two products also both have a dark feel to them and a trippy art style that works
really well in this case.
However the existing image is darker and doesn't have any edit over the top like I have
with my product, also the existing product is a more close up image showing the face
and more detailed and better drawn with a thicker pen.

The two floor plans both follow a similar over view having a table top design looking down
on the exhibit and using shapes and lines to design the room, also they have labeled
there's into sections including the toilets and other faculties.
However comparing the two there are a large number of difference I notice straight away,
firstly the existing product is far more detailed and has more information on the layout,
where as my own is got more color and has a key to show what's what.
Also the existing floor plan does not have a title on the page but the company's logo in
the corner.

Aesthetic Qualities
After finishing my project I am happy with how it looks and how my final product has came out, firstly
the drawings I have made for the project both have similar styles and have came out looking how id
hoped however I have been using more skills I didn't’t yet know which has helped add detail when
using tools such burn and shadow tool. The part I worried about the most with this project was the
photography side as its something I've not done much with however I am really happy and surprised
with the outcome, as the image I have made all have similar editing done to them but also mixing up
the photography with graphics came out even better then in my experiment looking professional and
matches my trippy psychedelic style I have been using.
The last part I am happy with is the pages for the booklet and the poster, I have made them all match
in color and style but also I feel confident I have included what is needed and it looks professional.
However if I was to go back and improve the work I would have liked to make all the project link both
the photos and graphics and stick too my topic, also If I had the graphics tablet out for longer I could
have done more graphics and add far more detailed.

Aesthetic qualities
I would also like to look at the qualities of these two sets of images I have done for my final product, firstly
looking at the one on the left I think the final product looks good and has came out in a trippy and edgy style
I have wanted, I particularly like the toning and how using the shadow tool has made it look more
professional, I also like the image used in the back and how using the motion blur makes it match the style
better. However with this product the detail and meaning I find could have gone better if I took out the
tablet for longer and spent more time on my planning before hand, which would have meant I could have
planned how I would put the message across and spent more time drawing this one rather then multiple.
However with the images I have taken then edited I am really happy with how the colors and style of all of
them match up really well and follow such a similar look and work together in a folder, however I feel I could
have maybe spent more time taking pictures and thought more about body language and costume for the
shoot.

Audience Appeal
After finishing my work and looking back at it comparing it to my research and audience research I can see where I
have successfully appealed to my target but also areas where I could improve or include more.
The work I have done in my opinion fits my target audience quite successfully firstly the work represents insanity
and other emotions which people struggle with even in the photography there are trippy aspects and dark
imagery, which was a big point I wanted to put across to my target audience.
Also if I look back at my questionnaire graphic art and photography were the most asked for areas of art to include
and I have focused on this, including aspects of both whilst mixing them together in one image similar to how I did
in the experiment.
Not just through the art but also with the posters and booklet I believe I have done okay at reaching them as I have
made sure to keep it simple designs but keeping it easier to follow and using more slang text in the booklet and
text I think may relate to my audience or appeal to them.
However If I were to change things or re-do the project I would have liked to include a lot more color into the work
and make it brighter but still try to push the same messages just through color, and this would also make the
posters and booklet more exciting and just more aesthetically pleasing.

• What did you like about the product?
– I like how well the photos are edited, I think the
style is very unique. I like that you have used both
photography and imagery. The booklet cover is
very detailed and very well put together.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• You could of created a link between all of the images
that you made. Honestly no improvements needed.

Feedback 2
• I like how the confused poster is very sketchy. I also like how each of your products have
different styles from one another. The Kieran grime image looks as if it could be on an
album cover and same with the Dexter’s lab. What I really like about them is how you
have combined real photographs with your graphics, drawings. It makes them very
unique and stand out. I love the Dexter’s lab image as it looks like something you would
see a street artist doing and looks as if it could actually be out there already.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• You could have maybe added some texts to the Kieran Grime image. Also for the
Dexter's lab poster you could have coloured in the bricks on the ground to match the
wall.

– These art pieces are absolutely superb. With them really wacky and
unusual that I really like.
– The colours used are vibrant that really makes them stand out and eye
drawing
– the exsabition layout is well done too. With not too much or too little
to it. That’s just perfect for that kind of exsabition

– Maybe like a look of what the exsabition interea would look like. Id be
interested o see what it'll look like with all the art involved

• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• I agree that my work needs to link more having all the
images I have made match with one topic or style, also
it would have looked really nice to have made the
exhibition and shown what the art may have looked
like actually set up.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• i was asked to try and add text too my picture of Kieran
with the pink graphics added, however mine is not a
album cover and text may have looked wrong on the
image if it was in a gallery.

Peer Feedback Summary
The peer feed back I have received has been very positive and has made me feel more
confident in my work, however I would have liked to have received more criticism on
my work as it is what is needed to improve on your work and for this slide. However I
did receive a bit which has helped me out as I agree that my work doesn't’t all link
together enough and is something I can take forward in my work and may come down
to my planning for the project, as I may need to actually put down exactly what I will
make of each piece and try to make each image link with a certain style or topic.
I really liked the idea of making a visual version of he floor plan actually trying to show
examples of the work as if they were up in a gallery, this would be a really creative idea
and would test and show far more skills and make the project more interesting in all.
