A 7-segment display is an electronic display device that shows decimal numbers using seven light emitting segments (a, b, c, d, e, f, g) arranged in a specific pattern. There are two types: common cathode displays where the segments are joined to ground and illuminated by a high signal to each anode, and common anode displays where the anodes are joined to power and segments are illuminated by a low signal to each cathode. 7-segment displays are widely used in digital clocks, meters, calculators and other devices to display numerical information.

What is a 7-segment Display? • A seven-segment display(SSD) OR seven- segment indicator, is a form of electronic display device of displaying decimal numerals that is an alternative to the more complex dot matrix displays. • Seven-segment display are widely used in digital clock, electronic meters, basic calculator , and other electronic device display numerical information.
- 3. Types of 7-segmet display : 1. Common cathode (CC): the common cathode display, connection of the LED segments are joined together to logic “o” or ground . The individual segment are illuminated by application of a “high” ,or logic “1” signal via a current limiting resistor to forward bias the individual anode terminals (a-g).
- 5. 2. Common Anode(CA): in the common anode display ,all the anode connection of the LED segment are joined together to logic “1”.the individual segment are illuminated by applying a ground logic “o”or “LOW” signal via a suitable common limiting resistor to cathode of the particular segment (a-g)
