Along with globalization, there is a tremendous immigration and travel between various countries(In 2000, over 95 million people immigrated to other countries)   Rapid globalization has created a enomous need for people all over the world to better understand and interface with different cultures in the course of their work and travels The internet today(Web2.0) with increasing broadband penetration offers the  perfect  platform  to create a compelling  online  language  learning solution
Is it possible to learn languages without teachers, homework, classroom discussions, tests?
To study some language learning platforms, analyze their teaching principles and to investigate strengths and weaknesses of online learning

P eople construct new knowledge as they interact L earning is particularly effective when constructing something for others to experience E ach participant in a course can be a teacher as well as a learner

Students can participate in classes from anywhere in the world  The online learning permits a ccess  to  resources and information anywhere in the world  The Virtual Classroom is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week The online  learning  allows  a   high level of  interaction between the instructor and students
Technology problems (no access to Internet) Not enough computer literacy Limitation of Technology ( breakdowns can  happen  at any point along the system ) D ependent learners  that  have difficulty assuming responsibilities
Be open minded about sharing life, work, and educational experiences Be able to communicate through writing Be Self-motivated and self-disciplined Be willing and able to commit  from  4 to 15 hours per week per course Accept critical thinking and decision making as part of the learning process
To be  a successful online language learner one should find reliable course management system, and one should know strengths and  weaknesses of this kind of learning, be responsible and organised.
