This paper presents a design for a closed-loop current controller for a current source inverter-fed AC machine drive system. It employs a multiloop current controller with pole/zero cancellation and a transfer function matrix to decouple cross-coupling terms between the d- and q-axes reference frames. Two controller types are proposed using different decoupling methods, and active damping methods are included to enhance stability. Simulations and experiments were performed to evaluate the proposed current controller.
