 We use a lot of / lots of / many / much when we talk about a large amount or number of things.

 We use very when we want to show emphasis, when we want to mean “extremely”.

 The difference among them is this:

                    Followed by:                 Example:                     Type of sentences:
 A LOT OF …         Countable nouns (plural)     A lot of/Lots of people
 LOTS OF…                                        watched the match.           Affirmative
                    Uncountable nouns            A lot of/Lots of snow fall
                    (singular)                   each summer.
 MANY               Countable nouns (plural)     Were there many people       Negative
                                                 in the party?                Interrogative
 MUCH               Uncountable nouns            There wasn’t much food in
                    (singular)                   the party.
 VERY                                            The people at the party      Affirmative
                    Adjectives!                  were very excited.           Negative
                                                 The food wasn’t very         Interrogative
                                                 good.




 Choose the right answer (much, many, a lot (of), lots (of) or very.
