Welcome to Accelerated Math!
This is a scan sheet that we use for Accelerated Math. Your teacher will hand you one so that you can follow along with the next directions!
On the side of your scan sheet you will see a place for your name. Please fill your name in at this time. Stephanie Washington
Now, your teacher will hand you an example worksheet. Let’s look at the title of the worksheet. It says “Practice.”
Stephanie Washington If you look beside your name on your scan sheet you will see 3 choices: Practice Exercise Test Since this is a “Practice,” we are going to fill in the square beside the word “Practice.”
Look back at the top of the worksheet and find the words “Form Number.” Circle this number!
Now find the words “Form Number” on your scan sheet. Write the form number in the squares at the top of this section. Write only one # in each square. 7 9 0 5 3 6 Below the numbers you will see bubbles with the number 0-9 in them. Directly below the number you have written, color in the matching bubble.
It is now time to answer the questions on the worksheet. Be sure to work out EVERY problem and circle the best answer. Cross off the answers that don’t make sense. Circle the correct answer. Write the letter on the side of the problem. In order for our answer to count, we need to fill it in on the scan sheet. D
Find #1. We wrote down answer D on our page. We need to color in the bubble for answer D and only answer D. Be sure that you color in the letter you want and that you color neatly.
Now answer question #2. The correct answer is D. Let’s go color in D for #2. D D
Neatly color in D for question #2.
Continue to answer the rest of the questions on your own. Be sure to always color in the correct bubbles on your scan sheet. Also, don’t forget to look and see if there is another page of questions. You are not finished until you reach the:
Good Luck Do your BEST work! It isn ’ t a race, so take your time! Generally, you need to do well on two Practice assignments to get a Test. You only earn objectives by doing well on a Test .
Your teacher will now show you where your Accelerated Math scanner is located. In the future you will be able to scan your own cards. It’s just like feeding a dollar into a drink machine!
Corrections : After you scan your assignment a TOPS report will come out of the printer. Look at it closely. If: You have 1 wrong or less – you do not have to make any corrections. Move on to your next assignment. You have 2 wrong or more – make corrections.
Let’s look at examples of different TOPS reports. Look at each one to see if that person needs to make corrections.
This student answered 6 out of 6 problems correct. A new practice assignment will automatically come out of the printer for them to start. Since they did so well, their teacher will see that they are “Ready to Test”. Once this number is 5 or more, their teacher will print them out a test.
Let’s look at another TOPS report. This student missed 6 questions. Before they can start their next assignment, they need to make corrections. This means writing a sentence to explain their mistake below the question or on a separate sheet of paper. Do you see the question marks? They mean, this person did not bubble neatly and the scanner could not read their card.
This is the important box on the bottom right-hand corner of your TOPS report. Every time you scan an assignment you can check your progress. “ Ready to Test” Your teacher will print you a test when you have done well on at least 5 objectives. “ Goal for Marking Period” This is the number of objectives you will be expected to reach by the end of the nine weeks. It’s like points in Accelerated Reader, but you only earn them when you complete a Test . “ Total Mastered this Marking Period” The number of objectives and a percentage of your goal that you have reached so far. You want to be at 100% by the end. 15 5 (33% Complete)
Let ’ s Review! Be sure to write your name & fill in your form number on each and every scan sheet. Bubble carefully and take your time! 2 Wrong or More – Make corrections first! Do your best on a “Practice” and you will get a “Test”. Master objectives on you “Test” and reach your goal!
