Linking
customers to
Fujitsu’s
Research and
Development
 Fujitsu has extensive R&D, technology solutions and
experts across the globe.
 As innovation specialists, our role is to join dots across our region and globally, leveraging

Access to
specialist
crowds via our
world-class
innovation
software
 When we innovate with our customers we can launch a ‘campaign’ to
engage both customer employees and Fujitsu employees to address a
defined business challenge.
 This allows people to discuss a problem and share ideas virtually.
 We evaluate and review ideas against agreed criteria, building a business
case with the customer.

Innovation
Events
 From experience, we understand that our customers are often keen to innovate but uncertain
about where to focus their efforts. Walking through your business strategy is often a great way
to help identify key priorities that can form the target area to address.
 Alternatively, we can help create horizon scanning and vision setting sessions, looking at the
art of the possible.
 Our recently refurbished innovation centre in London provides a perfect environment for these
sessions to take place.
7 COMMERCIAL IN CONFIDENCE
A digital
library of
ideas
 All the ideas that are generated during Activ8 activities are retained
anonymously in our Ideas Library.
 This innovation catalogue enables us to explore previous ideas and
solutions marrying them to existing business challenges.
 The library will enable us to track innovation ‘trends’ across sectors
and look for opportunities for ‘cross-pollination’ of innovation.
 We provide a feedback loop to those involved in R&D
Ideas Library
8 COMMERCIAL IN CONFIDENCE
 Sponsorship - proactive and engaged
 Business imperative for tackling specific challenge
 Comms are key
 A pipeline of innovation - ideas and solutions can be
done in parallel
 One challenge to fruition v multiple ideas stagnating
 Fastfail is a good thing – multiple reasons
 Funding principles from the outset
 The ‘right’ question
 Crowdsourcing – engaging the key people
 An agile and robust governance

11 COMMERCIAL IN CONFIDENCE
Where Activ8
has made a
difference
Where we have done this before
Major UK AirPort
Challenges: Noise Monitoring & Lane
Selection (on arrival to Airport)
Solutions: Following the Activ8 campaign,
three main ideas were presented back to the
customer as follows:
1.RFID Tracking of passengers
2.An upgrade mobile app for journey planning
3.Use of noise sensors to monitor engine
noise
As a result of this campaign the customer
described Fujitsu as “the most innovative of
our suppliers at this time.”
UK Postal Services (ongoing campaign)
Challenges: To develop ideas for a mobile
phone application that allows the business
to create a digital society, reduce queue
time, extends service & help create
efficiency and grow their financial services
portfolio.
Current Trending Solutions:
1.2D Barcode to facilitate fast track queues
2.Real time sales monitoring & counter
availability to the business
3.Connected society for the customers
12 COMMERCIAL IN CONFIDENCE
Where we have done this before
Government Agency
Challenge: They had encountered issues in the
process they used to request services from, and
bill, their suppliers, resulting in overpayments,
underpayments, confusion, and ultimately an
internal audit.
Solution: The agency has gone from struggling
with an issue that was affecting their reputation
and affecting them financially, to having
implemented a solution (RMP) which will not only
solve their immediate issues, but will allow them
to bring on additional services in the future.
 The agency told us that they enjoyed the
process “from start to finish”, have
recommended that they solve their other
business problems in the same way and
described it as a “new way of working” in their
relationship with us.
Large Council
Challenge: The account were asked to consider
ways in which the council’s Joiners, Movers and
Leavers process could be enhanced.
Solution: Introducing a web tool for the end
user to access and read/enter data directly at
key parts of the journey will significantly enhance
data quality.
 An IT manager from the Council said:
“Throughout the process, the Activ8
consultant proved to be an outstanding
ambassador for Fujitsu...”
