This document discusses the development of an artificially intelligent transportation model (AITM) aimed at improving the realism of microscopic traffic simulations, which has been a significant concern due to the lack of behavioral accuracy in existing models. It outlines the research objectives, methodology, and deficiencies of prior traffic simulation models, while proposing enhancements to better reflect real-world driving behaviors and conditions. The paper concludes with recommendations for future improvements in integrated traffic and driving simulations for transportation research.
