To add or subtract fractions with different denominators: 1) Find the least common denominator (LCD) of the fractions. 2) Convert the fractions to equivalent fractions with the LCD as the denominator by multiplying the numerators and denominators by the same amount. 3) Add or subtract the new numerators and place over the common denominator. Simplify if possible.
