Adding and Subtracting Fractions By: TF
Adding 2\5 + 1\3 Adding is the opposite of subtracting. Taking 2\5 + 1\3, you have to reduce the problem to 2\15 your answer.
Adding 2\5 + 1\3 Now i have equalled up the squares. My answer is 3\8 and I got that by adding up but nominator and dominator and together I get 3\8.
Subtracting 3\4 – 1\3 Subtracting is the opposite of adding. Try finding a common denominator. 4 x 3 = 12 and the bring the 12 down under the 3\4 and the 1\3 and put a line over it.
Subtracting 3\4 – 1\3 Taking the 12 and trying to find what goes into 3 which is nine and then what goes into 4 is one. And then try and take 4 for see what goes in to it 3.
