The document summarizes research on the audiences envisioned for adolescent diary weblogs (blogs). It finds that over one-third of bloggers are adolescents. Adolescent blogs differ from paper diaries in that they are not always intended for personal use and may not be private. The research analyzed 12 adolescent blogs to identify the types of audiences bloggers envision based on Langellier's framework. Most blogs envisioned the audience as witnesses to their experiences. Females tended to envision bifurcated audiences while males focused more on narrative analysis and performance.
