AIT experienced its worst flood crisis in 2011 when over two meters of water inundated the campus due to severe flooding in Thailand. In subsequent years, AIT received prestigious awards and ratings for its academic programs, launched new scholarship programs for Myanmar students, and underwent modernization projects of its library and leadership with a new president beginning in 2018, as AIT celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2019.

- 3. 2012 The Government of Norway unveils 40 annual scholarships for Myanmar nationals to attend AIT
- 4. 2012 AIT is awarded a major research grant on Sustainable Decentralized Wastewater Management Systems from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
- 5. 2013 Prof. Kanchana Kanchanasut inducted into the global “Internet Hall of Fame” by the Internet Society based in Switzerland. She was inducted for her role in bringing the internet to Thailand.

- 9. 2017 Soft opening of AIT’s modernized library
- 10. 2018 HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn inaugurates the modernized AIT library
- 11. 2018 Dr. Eden Y Woon takes over as ninth President of AIT
- 12. 2019 AIT begins its 60th Anniversary Celebrations
