Committee Reports:
Curriculum Committee
It is almost time for the college activities to begin for the ALL group. Registration will be Saturday,
September 13, 2014. Classes will begin the following Monday, September 15, 2014. There is an
interesting lineup of classes for the Fall. Facilitators for the Fall classes need to make sure that their
scheduled speakers are reminded of the class dates and times and see if they need any support such as
printing handout materials.
An immediate need is to get the committee together as soon as classes start and begin planning classes
for Spring 2015 (mid-January through mid-May). The schedule for Spring must be finalized by the end of
October. Start thinking NOW of speakers for the next semester......we will need to move fast.
Additionally, Sarah Walter will be stepping down as Curriculum Chairman. There will be a meeting
September 23, 2014 at 10 AM in HSC 106 to start planning the Spring curriculum and find a new
chairperson.

Bus Trips
Sept 2014 Bus Trips Report for A.L.L.
We have had four bus trips since the last report:
Thursday, May 15: Glass bottom boat rides in San Marcos
Tuesday, June 3: Houston Mounted Police demonstration, lunch and a tour of St. Arnold’s
Brewery
Sunday, July 20: dinner and the musical “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” at Miller
Outdoor Theater
Monday, August 11: A guided tour of City Hall and a visit to the Downtown Tunnels
All were well attended and we have had several requests to return to Miller Outdoor Theater.
Here is a list of our future trips:
Wednesday, September 17: guided tour of Austin
Tuesday, October 14: Froberg’s Farmer’s Market & Haak Vineyards
Saturday, November 8: Texas Renaissance Festival
Saturday, December 20: San Antonio River Walk
Registration for the fourth quarter trips will be on Sept 19 (10 AM in HSC 105 & 106), NOT at the fall
Open House. We anticipate a larger crowd this time since more people will be aware of the change in
procedure. At the fall Open House there will be table with flyers describing the fourth quarter trips,
handouts about the new procedure and current policies.
Sharon has also said she will revise the refund policy and have it available at the Open House on
September 13.

Events Committee
There were no outreach connections made over the summer.
On September 9, 2014 at 9:30 AM we have been asked to give an A.L.L. presentation to the Friends and
Neighbors of FM 1960 at the John Wesley United Methodist Church, The Welcome Center, 5830
Bermuda Dunes.
Cheryl LeJune will go with me to give the presentation and hand out A.L.L. Fall Catalogues. They are
expecting about 100 women.
EVENT COMMITTEE
Plans are well underway for the upcoming Fall Registration on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 9:00
AM to 12:00 PM.
I have sent e-mails to all those who previously helped in the past to see if they are able to assist again
this year. We had a good response and Cheryl and I have worked up the volunteer worksheet which I
will be e-mailing to all the volunteers in a day or so.
We are able to start setting up for the event on Friday, September 12, 2014 around 3-4 PM. I will need
volunteers to help with this. It will involve hanging some items, shifting tables around, and decorating
the tables for the guests. I am sure there may be another task or two, but many hands make light work.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR OUTREACH AND EVENT COMMITTEE
I would like to add another volunteer to each of these committees. It helps to have at least 2 people on
each committee.
Cheryl has been great in helping me out. She knows the ins and outs of how all this works, who to see,
etc. I am trying to learn all she has to teach me. However, it is time to give her a break and I would live
to see a couple people volunteer for these committees. If you cannot, maybe you know someone who
can. Thanks to all the volunteers out there.
