To make an altered book, you need a hardback book, glue, paint brush, and embellishments like ribbons, buttons, and beads. You cover the book cover with glued tissue paper or napkins. Some pages are removed and others glued together to make room for additions. Watercolor is added before ribbons and objects are glued throughout. A window can be made that opens, and a ribbon is used to keep the book closed.

- 3. Creating the book cover. Tear coloured tissue paper into pieces and stick the tissue paper over the book cover, use glue and a paint brush. Instead of tissue paper, you can also use coloured paper napkins.
- 4. Preparing pages.. • Take some pages out, to make room for your embellishments. • Glue pages together, before adding embellishments.
- 5. Adding objects to your book.
- 6. Add watercolour first. Add watercolour to the pages, before adding ribbons etc.
