- 2. The Amazon River is in South America and is the second longest river in the world. The river is on Brazil’s border and is a relative of Brazil, Peru, and Columbia. The Amazon River is 4,000 miles long and is the chief river of South America. It carries more water than other rivers. The Amazon River got it’s name from the nearby area.
- 3. The Amazon River has exciting cities like Ilha kind of off the side of South America. A city named Belem is known for it’s Goeldi Museum, which displays origins, history, culture, traditions, and animal collections of the Amazon Basin.
- 4. Santa Alexandre, Belem’s oldest church was completed in 1616. 70% of Brazilians are Roman Catholic; the others are Christian. Belem is the chief port of the vast Amazon River Basin. North Brazil’s largest airport and coastal railroad enhance the trade of Belem.
- 5. It has an open-air market. Brazil covers nearly half of South America, and is the continent’s largest nation. They spend most of their time outdoors because of the beautiful weather. Music and dancing are popular pastimes. The Brazilian samba is the national dance.
- 6. The cities of Santarem, Sao Paulo, Fort Aleza, Brasilia and Curitiba are also on the Amazon. The languages they speak are Spanish, German, and Brazilian. Indians live in the Amazon River. That's why I think the Amazon River is so amazing.
