This document proposes a simplified approach for analyzing the dynamic response of tall buildings due to wind loads using frequency domain analysis. The approach uses power spectral density analysis in Sap 2000 to determine the peak dynamic response. It estimates turbulent wind spectrum, aerodynamic admittance and vertical coherence using existing models. A database of building model conditions is created. The proposed design method is then introduced using the design database. Case studies are analyzed for various wind speeds and building heights. The simplified approach requires less computational effort than standard procedures while still providing an initial analysis of dynamic response for design.
