This paper evaluates various indexing methods for Arabic document collections, specifically inverted files, signature files, suffix arrays, and suffix trees. It compares their performance based on retrieval efficiency and effectiveness using a set of 242 Arabic abstracts and 60 queries, revealing that inverted files generally yield better retrieval results in terms of speed and recall/precision metrics. The study highlights the challenges in Arabic information retrieval and aims to improve these systems through better indexing techniques.
