- 2. Process of varying one or more properties of a periodic waveform carrier signal, with a modulating signal that contains information to be transmitted. The process of converting analog data to analog signal is formed as modulation. The modulation is a process of vary some characteristics of periodic signal with the extend signal called carrier signal. The carrier signal are high frequency signal which can travel in air with very high speed. The information bearing signal are also called modulation signal.
- 3. Analog signals are modified to represent analog data. Also known as Analog Modulation. Required when BANDPASS is used.
- 5. Process of changing the amplitude of high frequency carrier wave in accordance with intensity of signal is called AM. Amplitude of the carrier wave : amplitude of the signal being modulated. The boundary of amplitude modulated signal embeds modulating signal.

- 7. FM is a type of modulation where frequency of the carrier wave is varied in according with modulating signal. The amplitude and phase remain constant. The information bearing signal changes the frequency of carrier wave and since the amplitude remain constant. So the noise will be low and provide high quality of modulation which is applicable in music and speech broadcast.
- 9. PM is type of modulation where phase of the carrier wave is varied in according with modulating signal. The amplitude and phase remain constant. The phase modulator modulates the carrier signal and the massage signal in the low power range to generate a narrowband FM.
