- 2. • I’m analysing an existing student’s work and I have chosen to analyse Neha’s work, as her final music video is both a narrative and performance which I would like to do for my music video. I will be look through her work and how she became successfully in producing the music video she wanted. As I am going for a similar style to Neha, I thought it would be handy for me to look and analyse her work and see what she has successfully which I can take in.
- 3. Research • The first step she has taken in order to start her coursework research was she looked into few music videos which she was inspired by. She also understood the different styles of music video and gave few examples. After looking into the different music video styles, she came to an overall conclusion. • She has carried out a lot of research which proves that Neha had taken a lot time out to think deep about the music videos. • Her research also has been beneficial to her. She talks about her audience, software’s that will be used, digipak, music labels and video etc… • I think her research has been very successfully in understanding the background of music videos. • My own project will explore similar ideas such as researching into music labels and existing videos with analysis. The more research means that there will be help in gaining ideas for what my final project will be.

Planning • Her planning displays her clear vision for her video and is confident in what steps will be undertaken. • My work will explore similar ideas such as mood boards, outfit ideas, location and designing digipak are a few tasks which I will be doing. There are some similar features such as locations and the style of music video, not only that but the physical design work as well. • With her planning she has clearly shown evidence in her planning which shows that she has taken a lot of time to produce and develop her final idea. She has also used many multi-media sources into portraying all the planning tasks. • My project will be similar in terms of planning as I will undertake tasks such as initial planning ideas, planning for digipak and advertising, and audience feedback.
- 5. Final Work • As I like the idea of having a dual style music video of a narrative and performance, Neha’s music video was very interesting and inspiring in making a similar type of music video. Looking at her final work, all the tasks of planning and research all lead to a successful final piece. • She had a clear vision of what she wanted for her final piece. Her final products also successfully follows the brief of a digipak and an magazine advertisement which matches the style of the music video, making it look consistent and not odd.
- 6. Conclusion • Overall, from looking at this student’s work, they have successfully made the most of the time in researching and planning in result of a high level final piece. She did clear research and thought about how her music video will be like. Furthermore, her blog has got all tasks which she has completed and extra work as well. • The successes of the project was that they understood and evidently portrayed her knowledge and skills on her blog.. • Looking at their experience of this project, I will learn many things from skills to planning and research. Keeping drafts is important as it shows the progression of the work and is great proof of how production I can be. • Audience feedback and research is also a another part of the project which is common and useful for this project, as it will help the producer understand the needs and also help the producer improve their work.
