This document describes how the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was used to select a student from an engineering college in India to receive an all-round excellence award. Seven criteria were used to evaluate five student branches - electronics and communications engineering, electronics and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and computer science engineering. The AHP involved establishing a hierarchy, making pairwise comparisons between criteria and alternatives, calculating weights using the eigenvector method, and ensuring consistency. It was found that a student from the electronics and communications engineering branch received the award.
