- 6. THE EDGE IS LOOKING FOR… Three installation works of varying scale. They will be installed in the space for at least 12 months. Something that combines the arts, sciences & technologies in wonderful ways. Work that responds to the spaces. Collaboration in the Edge community.
- 7. WHAT THE EDGE WANTS THE WORK TO… Be site specific. Have a depth of engagement with the audience. Reflect the Edge as both a space & an idea. Invoke a response from the community.
- 8. ANIMATE THAT OPPORTUNITIES $10,000 for a work that is situated in the breezeway and/or foyer. $3,000 for a publically accessible work somewhere in the Edge or on the online platform. $150 for a publically accessible work somewhere in the Edge or on the online platform.
- 9. $10,000 COMMISSION The Breezeway The Foyer Open to Australian creative's ( or teams with members mostly ) 25 year old or younger.
- 10. $3000 & $150 COMMISSION Open to Queensland creative's ( or teams with members mostly ) 25 year old or younger. Everywhere & anywhere the public are in the Edge
- 11. THE FACTS (I) – THE ARTISTS. One application per person per level. Open to individuals, groups and organisations. If you ’re working for the State Library of Queensland, you cannot apply. If you used to work for the State Library of Queensland, you can apply. The commission applies to all costs associated with the work, including travel. The Edge will cover the public liability & professional indemnity.
- 12. THE FACTS (II) – THE WORK. Needs to be site specific. Will be exhibited exclusively at The Edge for at least 12 months. The copyright remains with the artist(s). If it uses electricity, it will need to be tagged & tested. Will be properly risk assessed & associated management plans will be put in place. There will be one commissioned work at each level.
- 13. THE FACTS (III) – THE FUNDING. It is income, not a prize, so you will need to handle the tax. The funding is GST exclusive. It would be a good idea to run it through an ABN rather than a statement of supplier Funding for the commissions is paid in three parts: - A third up upon approval of the project plan. - A third on installation of the work. - A third at the conclusion of the 12 month install period.
- 14. THE FACTS (IV) – SELECTION PROCESS. Applications close on the 14 th October through the website, not the 7 th ; we ’ve extended the deadline Applications will be shortlisted by the 21 st October and people will be contacted. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed late October. Winners will be announced early November. Interviews will be conducted by internal (State Library of Queensland) and external reviewers.
- 15. THE FACTS (V) – SELECTION CRITERIA. We have five (5) criteria for selection of the works: Originality. Practicality. Engagement with, and understanding of, the audience. Responsiveness to space. WOW factor. Let us elaborate on those criteria…
