This study investigates the link between appropriate learning strategies and competency development among students at the University of Bamenda, revealing a significant positive correlation (p<0.027) between the two. It emphasizes the importance of a competence-based curriculum and contextual learning to foster students' self-confidence and connection to real-life applications. The research supports the notion that self-directed learning is critical in enhancing competencies and addressing the challenges faced by students in contemporary education.
