- 5. • Helps computer users to easily connect with other computers and information stores around the world using internet. • Can be done with or without authentication , security and encryption, depending on the needs. • Encouraging new methods of working from home and information sharing in many businesses. • Allows employees to work offsite, such as at home or in another location, while still having access to a distant computer or network, such as the office network.

- 10. Pitfalls of Remote Access • Lag time. Using remote access software can be a little slower than actually using your own PC because every key stroke and mouse movement needs to be transmitted to your PC and then back. • Remote access systems are not usually secure so this can be an issue if you are transferring sensitive information. It is possible to encrypt the information or use a VPN (Virtual Private Network). • Introducing remote access can also cause management issues in terms of productivity, for example, as it takes a certain amount of self-discipline to continue to be effective.
- 11. • Not all people enjoy working from home all the time as they might enjoy the stimulus and interaction of office life. It may also lead to destruction of corporate work culture . And it also leads to less coordination with the colleagues . • Additional hardware maybe required (e.g. VPN appliances and firewalls) and this may be costly, so this needs to be taken into consideration from an investment perspective

To enable connections to a computer with Windows Remote Desktop, you must open the System Properties settings and allow remote connections via a particular Windows user through the Remote tab. • You do have to setup your router for port forwarding so another PC can connection to it from outside the network, but this is usually not that big of a hassle to complete.
