- 1. Tobacco Road Elementary Accelerated Reader Program 2016-2017 Purpose: To promote and motivate independent reading and comprehension. Accelerated Reader Guidelines: Students must read and take AR quizzes on books that are in his/her Lexile range. Students must earn an average score of 75% or above on AR quizzes to receive any incentives. Students must strive to earn the following points: Individual Student Nine Weeks Goal by Grade Level Grade Level 1st 9 wks. October 4 2nd 9 wks. December 16 3rd 9 wks. March 13 4th 9 wks. April 28 Kindergarten 4 points 6 points 6 points 4 points 1st 6 points 9 points 9 points 6 points 2nd 8 points 12 points 12 points 8 points 3rd 11 points 14 points 14 points 11 points 4th 12 points 18 points 18 points 12 points 5th 15 points 20 points 20 points 15 points Individual Student Mid-Year and Yearly Goals by Grade Level Grade Level Mid-Year December 16 End-of-Year April 28 Kindergarten 10 points 20 points 1st 15 points 30 points 2nd 20 points 40 points 3rd 25 points 50 points 4th 30 points 60 points 5th 35 points 70 points Students (1st-5th grade) are not to receive any assistance while taking AR quizzes. Cheating will automatically disqualify students from receiving any AR incentives. Incentives: Each week, the top 10 Accelerated Readers will receive a prize. Students who meet their Mid-Year goal will attend the Mid-Year AR party in January. Students who meet their End-of-Year goal will attend the End-of-Year AR party in May and receive a certificate at Honors Day. “Reach for The Stars” Incentive: Students who earn 100 points will receive an AR trophy at Honors Day.
