Archimedes'
Principle
By Esaú and Shanelle
Who is Archimedes
•Was a Greek mathematician,
physicist, engineer, inventor,
and astronomer. He is
regarded as one of the most
important scientists of
antiquity and a pioneer in
the development of science
and engineering.
What is the
archimedes’
principle
• Archimedes'
principle states that
any object
submerged in a
fluid experiences an
upward force, called
buoyancy, equal to
the weight of the
fluid it displaces.
Uses
• Navigation: The design of ships and submarines is based on
Archimedes' principle to control their buoyancy.
• Aerostatics: Hot air balloons use Archimedes' principle to rise,
taking advantage of the density difference between hot air
and cold air.
• Measuring instruments: Archimedes' principle is used in the
construction of instruments such as hydrometers, which
measure the density of liquids.
Conclusion
• Archimedes' principle is a fundamental
concept in physics that explains the
force acting on objects submerged in a
fluid. It has important applications in
various areas of science and
engineering, such as navigation,
aerostatics, and the construction of
measuring instruments.
