Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to developing computer systems that can perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, and natural language processing. AI systems can operate autonomously in vehicles, medical diagnosis, fraud detection, and customer service. There are several approaches to designing AI to act human-like: evaluating systems on the Turing test, modeling human cognition through introspection, psychology experiments, and brain imaging, applying the laws of thought that govern human reasoning to algorithms, and designing rational agents to make optimal choices given circumstances.
