- 5. Help Increase The Peace Initiative Project Goals: Engage youth in Creative and Progressive, Social Action and motivate them to make positive life changes. Incubate Micro-Business and develop youth into balanced individuals who are both Artists and Business owners. 3. Provide training in Technological Literacy and application to further amplify and enhance Community Building. 4. Utilize Multi-Media Communication to improve society from an artistic, political, economic, and social perspective. 5. Advocate and promote digital media and print media as a unifying vehicle for people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- 6. Objectives, Strategies & Methodology Youth Council Leadership, Personal Development, & Financial Intelligence The Youth Council supports 20 youth Aged 16 to 25. The Youth Council presents Financial Intelligence and Personal Development Workshops For Other San Francisco Youth ages 12 to 18 Ripple Effects for Teens and Help Increase The Peace from the American Friends Service Committee provides the Leadership curriculum. CNC Consultants and Ali International provides Financial Intelligence Workshops. Shake Technologies Provides equipment and helps the youth develop Business Plans.
- 7. The Youth Council Learns 1. Leadership Skills (Conflict Resolution, Non-Violent Communication, Resiliency) 2. Presentation and Facilitation Skills 3. Multi-Media Production (Video Editing, Music Production) 4. Financial Intelligence (Business, Investing) They receive Group Mentoring through Classroom Presentations and Career Exploration Events at local businesses and eventually One To One Mentoring with a professional in their career interest. Each year The Youth Present A Video Documentary about the project.
- 8. Initial Youth Youth Chance High School. Youth Chance serves a small group of at-risk youth who have struggled to succeed in the public schools and are looking for a second chance. Because of the school’s demographic and habitual truancy issues, it is imperative we do all we can to keep them coming to school and keep them interested in their education. Shakeel Ali and Ask Academy has helped the Youth Chance students value the learning process and strive to their full potential. After Mr. Ali spent just two days with the students, they were asking on practically a daily basis when he was coming back – they anticipated what they could learn next and what support Mr. Ali would provide them in regards to succeeding in and out of school. One student, when asked about Ask Academy, said, “It’s cool – it’s going to help us get jobs!” Ask Academy provides students at Youth Chance an incentive to work hard toward their aspirations as they learn that the effort they put into their education will pay off as they pursue goals outside of school. With The Youth Council, students learn to take responsibility and use their skills paired with community resources to gain access to opportunities that will accentuate their talents in helping them succeed.
